I like the rack setup from Archimende. Is anyone still organizing a group purchase? If not I will spend the extra money and order it direct.

Steve, I decided to go with Archimede after all. (The other guy needed an unbent piece to work from, which I don't have.) I did a bank transfer to buy 3 rear brackets.

If you want one, you can send me Paypal and I'll mail you a bracket. Send me a PM if you're interested.

My Archimede subframe and rack has arrived in Sydney.Looks very well made. A bit on the heavy side.Fedex shipping very fast but cost a lot. probably carried by Tom Hanks as hand-luggage.Will update after it has been fitted.Steve

Cool. I should get three of them on Friday -- for me and a couple other inmates over on ADV. I'm psyched to get the HP2 back on the road. This subframe nonsense has taken way too long....

Fitted my Archimede sub-frame and rack with a small amount of difficulty.dodge.pngVery heavy compared to OEM. Probably about 2 1/2 times the weight.  Since the alloy part is clearly under-engineered I'm guessing this is what it should have weighed in the first place. The fit is not quite OEM standard.  In particular the width where it bolts to main frame is one or two mm too narrow.  "Coaxed" on with a rubber mallet and bolted up it looks fine. (It's a better fit than I could have made by myself in the home workshop.)The slip-on bolt retainers supplied look a bit nasty. I just re-used the OEM ones.Very happy with the rack which looks great and seems strong enough for my heavy tool /spares kit.Overall I'm happy to have my bike back on the road and confident that this new setup will last for the lifetime of the bike.Archimede is a good bloke and let me off when his bank took 15 Euro out of my payment for themselves.I just wish he'd get a credit card payment system.  Steve

Sounds good. I am planning to take off the subframe this winter, assuming there will be a non-riding period) and reinforce it using a two component metallic epoxy compound. Basically reinforcing joints and welds.

Not sure if that makes any sense since I have never hold the frame in my hands...

Good guess: I just got my Archimede bracket and it weighs 1199 g, 2.5 times the original's weight of 479 g.  (Plus or minus on that original weight, as mine had a few gussets added and a few other bits hacksawed off in an aborted attempt to fix it.)

No fitment issues here, although I haven't bolted the rear plastic panels back on yet.

I also bought the Holan pannier rack, which has struts that run parallel to the subframe, transferring some of the new bracket's weight down to the footpegs.  I'd definitely recommend this -- or the Touratech rack, which similarly reinforces the bike's subframe.

I'll take pictures in a week or so.  I'm still waiting on that Holan rack to come in, and I probably won't reassemble everything until then.

Guys, is the group buy over? We have a couple of HP2Es down here in South Africa and this problem with the weak subframe is becoming more common here as well.

What was your final price? 170Euros?

I ran a small group buy for US HP2 owners, but it's over.

Price was 170 euro each for 3 or more. Price for a single one is 190 euro.
